There isn't much to say about this one other than its my all time favorite low profile, low cost, high utility transportation. When its too rainy or frozen to ride motorcycles, I take the van. Need to haul something or a bunch of kids and their friends, take the van. Want to upset your teenage daughter, pick her up from the movies in the van. Going camping, take the van. A car to sit at the Airport or Train station for a week, you guessed it, the van. Tailgating in the pouring rain; the van. The Van stands guard in front of the house ready for action. It doesn't get called on that often, but when it does its always ready to go. Well at least until the last year I had it.
Seriously, its all wheel drive with anti-lock brakes so it does real well in the snow. The 4.3 Liter V6 gets reasonable mileage and has enough guts to tow our pop-up trailer into the hills. Any back yard mechanic can fix it, and it had been reasonably realiable. (except for the damn door handles, knobs that fall off the dash and anything electrical). I don't get mad when kids spill drinks in it or somebody smacks it with a car door. I'm the only member of the family that thinks this, but other than the paint that's peeling off the leading edge of the hood, Its not a bad looking car either.
October 2003 Update. The van that faithfully served our family has been traded in. Twelve years of good times were starting to take their toll. Its unlikely replacement, a Ford Focus.
