1990 Ford F-150
F-150 XLT Lariat. The "Johnny Cash" Truck

In August I sold my Focus. It was one of those situations where somebody offered me more money for it than I thought it was worth. For a while I considered just riding my motorcycles to work all winter. It was working ok for me until about the beginning of November. My daughter wasn't so excited to be shuttled to and from gymnastics in the dark and rain on the back of my bike. (My wife wasn't real excited about it either!)
I had my mind set to keep money in the bank and buy an older truck. I initially wanted a Toyota. The asking and selling prices for mid 80's to early 90's Toyota 4x4's in the NW is out of control. When I was ready to buy, I couldn't find one worth buying for less than $4k. Even then, all had 200,000 miles and more often than not some cosmetic issues.
I expanded my search beyond Toyota's and looked for the cleanest, lowest, sub $4000 4x4 I could find. Here it is. A 1990 F-150 XLT Lariat. Its got a 5.0 V8 and 5-speed manual transmission. Everything works except the power door lock on the passenger side. Adult owned, 119,000 miles.
I was glad to have it during December and January of this year. We've had more ice and snow this winter than the last three combined. Even with the wimpy highway tires, its been remarkably good at getting up and down the snowy hills in our neighborhood.
