JR Walsh "Magic"

I was surfing a site called Heart of Stained Glass (http://groups.msn.com/HeartOfStainedGlass/photoalbums) when I came across their Masterpiece of the Month photo.  The photo wasn't attached to the page, but I was intrigued by the comments by "Magic", who is the artist of the featured piece.  He wrote as follows....

"This window was in the making for about 5 years... I know that sounds long, however, that was just the design stage...LOL  I drew the larger whale way back when and could never settle on a back ground for it.. It had been re-drawn several times before I settled on this design.

After my wife and I had lunch with a dear friend who had just had a baby. I got the idea of putting in a smaller whale. I thought it fitting for the way I was feeling at the time. (one always needs inspiration)

The window is 24X36" has 223 pieces of glass and took approx: 44.6 hours to complete. Most of it was cut by hand, however , I did make valuable use of my ring saw to make the detailed cuts... It is done in the Foil and solder method of Stained Glass with 60/40 solder and is bordered with zinc came"

Recently, I came across the photo and was stunned.  It is truly the most beautiful panel that I have ever seen.
