2005 Prowler 18T6

Home away from Home

My wife and I wanted to extend the camping season.  Oregon has good tent camping weather for about 3 months during the summer. Oddly, this is when everybody goes camping. We had a tent trailer. It was fine when it was set up and raining outside. Not so good when it needs to be put away wet.  Wind wasn't the tent trailer's best friend either.

We love to camp before and after the three day weekends. No crowds. Less traffic and so fourth. A hard sided trailer is also more fun on the Oregon Coast  - Its usually a little windy over there. Our 4-Runner with a V8 is rated to tow 7000lbs. I wouldn't want to tow that much, but that's what its rated at.  We wanted something big, but small. Something without any set up. We narrowed in on the Fleetwood family's 18T6 plan. Our wish list was something that sleeps 4 (2 singles and a double) without having to convert the dinette into a bed. This trailer has a big bed and a bunk in the back and a couch in the front that turns into a bed. The couch is a great place to sit and hang out. more comfortable that the dinette.

Fleetwood's Wilderness, Mallard, Terry, Prowler, Pioneer all have this floor plan. Its an entry level trailer and most of the one's I've seen our the Pioneer brand with the primary Blue exterior trim color. Prowler doesn't list this trailer on the website for 2005. My understanding is they made a special run of them with the smooth fiberglass sides instead of the "rippled" overlap aluminum. They all got all got Roof Air and the three I've seen had pretty nice interior color combinations. Not all the dealers will tell you this, But I also believe they factory sold them to the dealer for the same price as the  Pioneer. In Western Oregon there are about 10 dealers that sell 2/3 of the trailers and one huge one that sells the other 1/3.  It takes some time and effort, but at the end of the day, the big store will not be undersold. I put in the effort and  we pulled our brand new trailer off the lot.
